Our Wedding

2020 brought its challenges — and the start of our story.Katie had just returned from teaching English with the Peace Corps in Costa Rica and was grieving the loss of her father, John. At the same time, Diego was finishing his studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth and starting his career as a software engineer.We matched on Bumble, but a few coincidences made it feel like the timing was meant to be. Katie's sister, Meg, had interned with Diego at the same company and reassured Katie that he was, in her words, "an outgoing engineer."As we got to know each other, we discovered more shared connections. Diego grew up in central Minnesota in a bicultural household. His dad, Javier, immigrated from Mexico after meeting his mom, Joyce, while she was studying there. Katie grew up in the Twin Cities, developed a love of Spanish and Latino culture through her studies and time abroad, and has deep roots in central Minnesota through her mom, Nancy.Those shared ties made us feel at home with one another from the beginning. They reflected many of the things we value most: family, friendship, cultural connection, and a curiosity about the world around us.

Our Story

The Venue

Our day starts and ends at The View at Minneapolis Event Centers, just steps away from the picturesque St. Anthony Main neighborhood. The View is one of three venues on the premises and has its own entryway. Upon arrival, look for our welcome sign and the wooden arch pictured. Staff will also be on hand to direct you. The View offers both indoor and outdoor spaces, and we plan to use both, weather permitting. Please note the main venue entrance includes a going down flight of stairs; an elevator and other accessible options are available and staff can direct you.

Parking Recommendations

St. Anthony Ramp<a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/uDga66wn3u5hQf5u6" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">201 2nd St SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414</a>There is limited metered street parking available in front of the venue. We recommend parking in the St. Anthony Parking Ramp located just across the street, which offers reasonable rates ($11.50 for up to 12 hours). Once you park, head to the elevators on the south side of the ramp and scan the QR code located near the elevators to pay for parking. Metered ParkingIf you would like to street park, there are plenty of metered spots around the venue with hourly fees. Most spots are hourly until 10:00pm. There are pay stations sprinkled throughout the area, but we prefer using the <a href="https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mpls-parking/id1009365391" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">MPLS parking app</a> to pay as it notifies us when our meter is about to expire. Rideshare (Uber, Lyft)Depending on where you’re staying, sharing an Uber or Lyft with other guests can be cost-effective and removes the stress of watching the meter.

Nuestra Boda

La mayor parte de nuestra boda se llevará a cabo en inglés, ya que la mayoría de nuestros invitados hablan este idioma. Sin embargo, el español también estará muy presente a través de la música, nuestras familias y amigos, y el ambiente de la celebración. Habrá muchos invitados bilingües que con gusto podrán ayudar a traducir cuando sea necesario.Lo más importante para nosotros es que todos se sientan bienvenidos mientras celebramos este día tan especial juntos. ¡Estamos muy felices de compartirlo con ustedes!

Lugar del Evento

Nuestro gran día comenzará y terminará en The View at Minneapolis Event Centers, ubicado en Minneapolis, entre el centro de la ciudad y la Universidad de Minnesota, a orillas del río Mississippi. The View es uno de los tres salones del complejo y tiene su propia entrada. Al llegar, busquen nuestro letrero de bienvenida y el arco de madera que aparece en la foto donde también habrá personal disponible para guiarlos. El salón cuenta con espacios interiores y al aire libre y, si el clima lo permite, disfrutaremos de ambos durante la celebración. Tengan en cuenta que la entrada principal a The View requiere bajar un tramo de escaleras y en caso de que necesitan una opción accesible, hay un ascensor disponible y el personal con gusto podrá ayudarlos.

Transporte y Parqueo
